Il City vince la FA cup e Liam Gallagher canta Roll With It

Il Manchester City conquista la Fa Cup 2011 e Liam Gallagher, presente al Wembley Stadium per la partita, canta Roll with it, trasmessa dallo speaker dallo stadio.

Non è una novità che Liam sia tifoso dei Citizens, così come lo è il fratello Noel, ma ogni volta che i 2 o uno degli Oasis fa qualcosa per la sua squadra del cuore, fa notizia.

Abbiamo visto diverse immagini dei Gallagher presenti all’Etihad, diverse foto con le mafglie degli Sky Blues, numerose esibizioni musicali live con riferimenti e dediche ai Celesti di Manchester, ma questo è ancor di più!
E’il 14 maggio 2011, a Londra si gioca la finale della Coppa delle federazione inglese tra il Man City e lo Stoke City, il match viene sbloccato al 74’minuto da Yaya Turè; i Citizens vincono la coppa!

Lo speacker dello stadio suona una canzone, proprio quella che viene suonata dopo ogni partita casalinga del Manchester City, Roll with it.
Che c’è di strano? Nulla se non che il brano sia degli Oasis e che la TV inquadri sugli spalti proprio Liam gallagher, intento a cantarla!

Non un concerto, non un’attività promozionale, ma lo stesso autore che canta commosso il suo brano per la vittoria della propria squadra del cuore!

Roll with it è poi una canzone simbolo, uscita con il disco (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, pubblicala guerra del britpop! Sono gli anni del III revival mod (noi lo chiamiamo così!) quello in cui i cantanti britpop rispolverano parka, fred perry e Vespe o Lambrette..tra le band c’è competizione, ci sono I Gallagher, i Kula Shaker, gli Ocean Colour Scene, i Blur e…e proprio con i Blur si crea una certa rivalità (anche calcistica! Sai che squadra tifa Damon Albarn?).

L’atto che da la definizione della Battaglia delle band è relativo proprio al disco, il singolo, Roll with it: l’etichetta discografica dei Blur fa di tutto per presentare al pubblico Country house, splendido brano di Albarn e soci, proprio lo stesso giorno in cui la casa discografica degli oasis aveva programmato l’uscita della canzone Roll with it. Ciò sancisce l’inizio della Band battle…che poi continuerà tra dichiarazioni e ripicche.
D’altronde ancora oggi mi capita di chiedere a chi conosco da poco: “ma te sei fan degli Oasis o dei Blur?”, tanto è ovvio che “di entrambi” non mi si possa rispondere!
